Australian Subclass 457 Visa

A program for employers to sponsor approved skilled workers to migrate to Australia
on a temporary working visa. Employers can nominate a number of positions for
different occupations under the same sponsorship application.

General

Are you an employer involved in a successful profitable business who intends to apply to sponsor any number of overseas skilled workers to Australia?

Applicants in this category are fast-tracked and are usually at your disposal within a couple of months. Specific conditions ensure that the employer can get the benefit of the recruit for the specified period of sponsorship and the applicant gets the benefit of being eligible to qualify for permanent migration to Australia.

With this approval you can employ overseas skilled workers on a subclass 457 business long stay visa for a period of between three (3) years who can then bring eligible secondary applicants with them to Australia.

Secondary applicants can work and study after entering Australia and have no limit on the number of times they travel in and out of Australia.

Employers can either be Australian or overseas businesses who can apply to be approved in one of the 4 sub-categories of the subclass 457 visa.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship of skilled persons by an Australian or Overseas business on a full-time basis for up to 4 years. Applying to become a Standard Business Sponsor is a 3-stage process.

Firstly, the employer makes an application to become a Standard Business Sponsor. Secondly, the employer nominates a suitable candidate to sponsor and thirdly, the candidate applies for a subclass 457 visa.

Labour Agreement

Labour Agreement arrangement between the Australian employer or industry association and the Australian government to sponsor a number of skilled overseas workers to Australia.

Labour Agreements provide a pathway to recruit overseas skilled workers where standard visa arrangements do not meet industry needs.

This is formal arrangement to recruit a number of overseas skilled workers. Both temporary and permanent visas can be granted under the agreement. Agreements are generally effective for 2 to 3 years.

Invest Australia Support Skills

Invest Australia support skills brings key managerial or executive personnel to Australia who have been assessed as been required to support companies who are proposing to make significant and/or strategic investments in Australia.

Visas (within the agreement) can be temporary or permanent and can be extended beyond the usual 3 year life of the agreement.

Service Sellers of overseas suppliers or services negotiating or entering into agreements to supply their services in Australia
