Offshore Skilled Independent
The Offshore Skilled Independent visa is a permanent visa available to workers who have skills in demand in the Australian labour market. Applicants for the Offshore Skilled Independent visa are not sponsored and must under the age of 45 at the time of application, have suitable English language skills, pass a points test and nominate an occupation from the Skills Occupations List. Your skills must be assessed as suitable for the nominated occupation. To qualify for the Offshore Skilled Independent visa, you must provide proof that you worked a minimum of 12 months out of the last 24 months in the nominated occupation, or have met the two-year, full-time study in Australia requirement within the last six months. You can apply for an Offshore Skilled Independent visa while in Australia, unless you have a current visa with a condition preventing you from doing so; however, you must be outside of Australia before the visa is granted. The exception to this is New Zealand citizens, who can apply and be granted an Offshore Skilled Independent visa while in Australia.  Offshore Skilled Sponsored
The Offshore Skilled Sponsored visa is a permanent visa available to those who do not meet the Offshore Skilled Independent pass mark. Applicants for the Offshore Skilled Sponsored visa must be sponsored by an eligible relative residing in Australia, or must be nominated by a participating State or Territory Government. In addition to this requirement, applicants must also be under 45 years of age at the time of application, have suitable English language skills, pass a points test and nominate an occupation from the Skilled Occupations List. Your skills must be assessed as suitable for the nominated occupation. To qualify for the Offshore Skilled Sponsored visa, you must provide proof that you were employed at least 12 of the last 24 months before the time of application in the nominated occupation, or you must have met the two-year, full-time study in Australia requirement within the last six months.
You can apply for an Offshore Skilled Sponsored visa while in Australia, unless you have a current visa with a condition preventing you from doing so; however, you must be outside of Australia before the visa is granted.
